Joseph Herman, AIA, LEED AP, Project Architect

Joseph brings to HKA a diverse background of experience in multiple project types. He has designed, documented and/or managed projects ranging from residential additions to 200,000+ SF green middle schools. Joseph has project experience in health care, education, commercial, residential, stadiums, tenant fit-outs, restaurants, banks, etc.

Mr. Herman is a member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) and a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Accredited Professional (LEED AP). Prior to re-joining HKA in 2009, Mr. Herman was an Associate with Architecture Furst (AF) in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. While employed at AF, he was the Project Architect on the EPC AIA Award of Merit recipient Freedom High School Additions and the new Broughal Middle School for Bethlehem Area School District. He was the lead designer and Project Architect for the Nazareth Area Middle School and the Easton Area School District's administration building addition. Mr. Herman was also employed by L. R. Kimball & Associates in Harrisburg, Pa where he was the designer and project architect on Washington & Jefferson College's Cameron Stadium. He also worked on the Lebanon Valley College basketball sports center and the LEED Gold Clearview Elementary School in Hanover, Pa.

LCDR Joseph L. Herman, CEC, USN has been serving as an active Navy Reservist since 1986. LCDR Herman has been mobilized three times: twice for Operation Iraqi Freedom and once for relief efforts after Hurricane Katrina. He is currently assigned to USCOMKOREA Detachment 102 based in Newport, RI.

Mr. Herman received his Bachelor of Architecture from Temple University in 1995.
