Good Shepherd Rehabilitation Hospital – Pedestrian Bridge

  • Location Allentown, PA

The commission to replace the pedestrian bridge over an active city street presented significant logistical challenges.  Our solution was a design utilizing many prefabricated elements allowing the new bridge to be constructed with only a three-day closure of the street below.

The interior features a sitting area at midspan creating a place along the bridge for residents to pause for dramatic views of the city.  Using the iconographic pediment of the organization, the exterior has become an orienting landmark advertisement for Good Shepherd.
